The King of Pop

Michael Jackson passed away.

I was in the gym at 6 am this morning and was devastated by the news. I grew up watching him dance. He was an inspiration to me. Though I was not a diehard fan, I've always admired him. He was a performer. He commanded attention. He was unique. He was talented.

As a dancer, an icon like Michael Jackson was an inspiration. Each time I perform, I know the pain I go through for that 4 minutes of fame. Imagine what Michael had to endure. The heartless paparazzi, the constant need to be at the top of the game.

I'm truly sorry for the loss. There can only be one Michael Jackson.

Wonderful Wednesday

I started the day tired, drained from a sleepless night. Had a terrible cold and tried to resist taking puriton because it makes me so drowsy the next day. I lost the battle at 3 am and took it anyways.

Came into office early and got a very nice call from a credit manager. He was so positive and said that he would like to engage my service because it was good.

Yay!

Energized and rejuvenated!

God is good! He truly is. Despite all the hurtful words said by a friend, or a colleague, I became stronger and happier because I closer to him than ever.

On an even brighter note, Cillia is coming to Church with me on Sunday! I can't wait! I'm going super early to queue!

AND! I received 5 text messages from my guy friends last night asking for free liasing. How can!!!!

Dim sum and Friendships

EeeeEEe! Monster! The monster is at Marina Mandarin's Peach Blossoms restaurant. She was blessed to be able to meet her ex colleagues from Citibank. Monster tried taking pictures with Louie's pro camera and it turned out blurry...
She DID not turn on the stabiliser and focus of Louie's super pro canon 50D

Kelvin rectified the problem..Mark's favourite dish.. He said the roasted meat were fabulously tender.Shan's and my favourite dish. Fried toufu with oats. Heavenly...
Shan looks so pretty here!
What I really liked about the desserts is that they come in tiny tequila glasses.. The mango sago and gui ling gao got our thumbs up!

Arranged a mini surprise for Mark. Happy birthday dude!
Picture of the day. Shan.. the girl who became like a sister to me.

And the most unglamorous shots, courtesy of Kelvin. Monster digging into her favourite steamed salted egg yoke cutard pao..

Just look at that greedy smile! eeyeeerr..

I had a great time catching up with Kel, Mark, Shi xiong and Shan. It made me realise how much I miss teamwork. I love my new job. It's exciting meeting credit managers, CFOs and big bosses but I've got to be very independent. I miss my toilet and snacking sessions with Shan and the crazy long lunches with the kampung gang..
I'm blessed to have these people in my life.

I miss you girl!

Sunset Grill and Pub's spicy wings challenge!

A horrified expression from Flo? In front of harmless looking chicken wings?

-evil laughter form grace- MUAHAHHHAHAH!

Hahaha.. while waiting for our food. Flo was so angry, he wanted to eat his arms.

Things to order. The thick gooey cheese fries! Crisp and drenched with cheese.
The patty from the mini burgers were tender, moist and juicy. Out of 10 levels, we had level 3 and I cried from it. So spicy!!

I love you dear friend! Come back from Germany soon please. I'm waiting for my German chocolates!Level 5 anyone?

Dear friends and family. The food at Sunset Grill is really fantastic. I heard that if you finish up the level 10 wings, you don't pay for the wings! If you're looking for a place away from the busyness, a place that you can laugh and eat with your friends, a place that challenges your tastebuds, go to sunset grill!

and...

look like...

Fantastic Print

This made me laugh out loud. Fantastic! I have always loved advertising for the creativity behind it. My close friends know that whenever I'm at a train station, bus stop, browsing through a magazine, in a shopping centre or just talking, I lose my train of thoughts when it comes to an advertisement. Louie knows I get distracted by a good print ad.

I find this extremely witty.

Happy Father's Day!

Pink invasion

My friends have no sympathy.

Angryangmo laughed at my plight.

Lynn said it's retribution from my previous life.

Shiming, who was kinder, said maybe I could wallpaper my room.

My little sister was waiting anxiously for me to get home from dinner because:

(Re-enactment)

Jo: Grace grace, come see your room! I can't wait to see your expression!

Grace: Oh man, I can't believe this. What colour is your room

Jo: Mine is also pink, rose pink. Nicer than yours!

Grace: WHAT! I thought mine was rose pink

Jo: No la, yours is worst. Baby pink!

Grace walks into her room

Grace: NOOOOO!!!!!!

Mum and Dad rushes out.

Mum and Dad: What happened??!?!

Grace: My room is baby pink!

Mum: Nice what I like!

Grace: I hate pink!

Dad: Remember to pack your stuff ah

Mum: I can paint it violet lah

Grace is dumbfounded but she still loves her parents, thus she has decided to TRY and live happily in her new home which is an eclectic mix of cobalt blue, baby blue, rose pink, baby pink, magnolia yellow and jungle green.

End Of the World

It's the End of the World for me.

My parents are in a revamping phase.

While I'm at work, they painted my room PINK! ROSE PINK LIKE THIS.

I hate pink but I love my parents!

Guess what? My little sister, Jo, cheekily texted me a minute ago to break the news.

"Mum and dad painted your room pink!"

"What! I hate pink!"

"I know. That's why I found it very funny and texted you"

I cry!

Lessons learnt in life

Cillia sent me something really beautiful and I think it's very meaningful, especially when I'm feeling so empty. Thanks Cillia, for being gorgeous, down to earth and encouraging

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio :
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written
.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29.What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Beautiful lessons learnt.

Thank you for the good and the bad

I've got nothing to boast of, nothing to be proud of.

Thank you for your kind words. I choose to see the good behind the harshness.

You'll be in my prayers.

Your Grace is Sufficient for Me

Just this Monday, I found out that I was going to lose someone important in my life. Needless to say, I felt empty though I knew nature would take its course.

He made a difference in my life. I wrote a bunch of notes but it'll be buried.

I came to work on Tuesday with a heavy heart but my prayers were answered.

The numbness and pain is slowly dissolving, with abundance of blessings at work.

I enjoy meeting clients, with CFOs and credit managers that buy me coffee and send me emails with hello kitties.

I thank God for sending good people like these who give me extra perseverance at work. Big deals are coming in. I'm truly blessed.

Lord,

Thank you for blessing me at Church last Sunday. Thank you for Louie who gave me a hug when I broke down and cried because of stress, a very swollen and infected foot, and even contemplated on not coming to Church. I'm glad you gave me a partner that encouraged me because I was bless.

Your Grace is sufficient for me.
Your Strength is made perfect when I am weak
All that I cling to, I lay at your feet
Your Grace is sufficient for me.

Asia and The West - The image we leave behind

*giggle* Trust my reknown friend to come up with a fantastic picture.
Recently, I guest blogged on angryangmo.com to express certain views in defense of an expat's criticism of Singaporeans. The entry, edited by Flo, managed to gather some opinions and quite a number of hits. I find it extremely interesting to hear all sorts of opinions and views.
Diversity.
Still, I am proud of being a Singaporean, kiasu, sloppy, unadventurous at times. At the same time, I embrace having friends like Flo, because he's similar yet different. I'm really enjoying his blog posts. I hope you do too!
The link to the post is:
Leave an opinion or an instance you've encountered under his post if you've had pleasant or disturbing experiences with Asians or Westerners!
:)
I love you all!
xoxo,
G

How angry ang moh's blog turned into the World's Best Blog

Approximately 2 years ago, I got to know this handsome ang moh called Flo through his beautiful girlfriend, Viv. It's funny how special people enter your life when you least expect it. I wasn't exactly the most approachable person back in NUS, taking refuge in company that I was familiar with. I was shy lah ;)

And then Flo started a blog. Very angry indeed! Louie and I were often confused with his German spelling and atrocious grammar.

Just last week, his blog, with much effort, has officially won the World's Best Blog that the marketing folks have been dying to invest in.

I realised that because Flo's blog is generating so much traffic for his post on the top 5 disastrous fashion in Singapore, NUFFANG made their bloggers comment on whether Singaporeans dress badly. Good job, Flo.

AND so.. I have to introduce a new word that I learnt from the man on Saturday.

He insists that is a word called "Anticyclus" that was too "cheem" for google.

*Anticyclus* - to defeat the purpose.
For eg. If you want to lose weight and you eat 10 burgers, that's anticyclus!

Haha, Flo, no wonder you get such recognition.

Dance Subaru

Despite a very painful swollen leg that required an injection, I watched an excellent movie over the weekend. Dance Subaru, about a talented little girl who overcame pain, grief and fear in order to pursue ballet.

The actress was beautiful, the dancing flawless, the technique impressive. The fervour and passion of dance. It made me miss dancing so much.

I'll resume classes next week :)

The movie is only available at Cineleisure. If you love dancing, love the passion behind it. It is a movie to watch!
Flo, Louie, thank you for watching it with me :)

Meaningful Conversation

Last night, on the way home from the PCD's concert, I asked Louie if I was irritating. He was a little taken aback from the question because he said that was a strong word. I explained saying that sometimes girls can be annoying, emotional, sensitive and we ask a lot from a guy. We need him to change but we don't realise that we need to change.
I came from a humble family, where I learnt everything is about compromise. A relationship is based on love and most importantly respect for each other. Somewhere along the lines in NUS, in Eusoff Hall, I think I came to believe that I deserved a perfect guy. I am ashamed to say that I think I thought too highly of myself because I had undeserved attention. I was placed on the pedestal, supported by popularity, consumed by busyness and forgot my roots.
Along the way, I got jaded.
Along the way, I saw my friends fail in their relationship.
However, I am still happily in love and being loved by an almost perfect guy. Almost because I am not perfect. I want to, and will continue to try to be that person that he needs, understanding towards his work commitments.
I remember that now. Louie says at times we see people's relationships but not ours. Somewhere, I realised many couples seek a break up as a solution to their problems, forgetting that there is no perfect someone for us. Our parents quarrel. There are little girls in this world who grew up being abused by their fathers, wishing that they were born in a different family, only to grow up and find out that people do change. Eventually, love changed anger and all that sadness that comes with it.
Louie says he will always try to make me see his point of view because he doesn't think I'm annoying.
I believe I am truly blessed and I've found the right someone.

Of course I will still love you

Dear girl,

I'll be swamped with meetings today but I do hope that this will come as an assurance to you. Whatever you do, you know you have my support.

There are no condemnations, only love and support.

And to answer your question, of course I do.

-hugs-

You're the best thing from Citi!

An excellent post from angryangmo - winner of Asia's best blog

Angry ang mo just updated! His post is fabulous on the Top 5 Singapore fashion disasters. I couldn't help but giggle because it's really true!

Just a brief few points from his blog:

That Cap Sits 3 Floors To High
I think that's Louie's pet peeve.

Singlets - Everywhere
Guilty as charged! I wear it for dance practice, for the gym, in Eusoff Hall..:(

Crocs - One Word - Hell
Or maybe this..

Pastel Colors - Yeah, For My Granny!
Haha! I hate pink!

Little Miss What? - That Must Have Been Before My Time
My sister likes this..:( so does my girlfriend..

Here's the link to his blog:

Disclaimer: It's not a blog for the faint hearted Singaporean who cannot accept being poked fun at :)

Doll domination and Love

Tan Louis Stevenson is the best in the world! He bought tickets to the PCD's concert for me!! -squeals-

Yay!! I'm going to see Margie and Clover at the concert too!! Doll domination!!

P.S. Another reason for how much he loves me. Louie loves me because he lets me eat his food. He doesn't mind me getting fat because he thinks I'm pretty! :)
